Street Wolves: Heart of Glass

The next planned Street Wolves release is being worked on right now! It’s Heart of Glass an adventure just dripping with neo-noir mystery.

In Heart of Glass the Street Wolves failed their previous mission in a big way and are supposed to lay low. They're cut off from Wolfpack and have no back up. But they’re spurred on by a mysterious message, finding themselves a small midwestern town full of dark secrets, conspiracies, and murder. Can the Street Wolves put the pieces together with no back up before it's too late? Or will they find themselves shattering in Heart of Glass?!

Sorry, I got carried away there for a second. Seriously though, we’ve just completed the first full run through of Heart of Glass and it was amazing. It went five three hour sessions and the Players really dug the feeling of danger and suspense of being “fish out of water” in the small town. The mystery is a big one with a lot of pieces, and putting the clues together was really satisfying for them.

One of the biggest surprises for me running the test was that I didn’t expect was how safe the players would play it as they went about their investigation. They only engaged in combat once in bar fight early in the game and after that it was all investigation, sneaking around, breaking and entering, and good old fashioned thievery. And while I wrote the adventure in such a way that it’s entirely possible to “solve” it without engaging in violence, it’s tough to pull off. I know some characters may be more willing to pick a fight or engage in violence to solve their problems, but in Heart of Glass that might not be the wisest move.

But hey, if players want to go whole hog and fight, there’s nothing stopping them… but without back up against a foe with way more resources it’s going to be a real uphill battle.

One more unique aspect of Heart of Glass is that the Street Wolves get clues via cassette tapes in game. In real life, I’m teaming up with Meghan Caves of Gone Rogue Entertainment to record some audio samples to play when the heroes discover a tape. It’ll add a fun extra dimension to the game and pull the players into the mystery more.

Unfortunately for my testers, they had to listen to me reading off the planned script for what was on the tapes, they didn’t get to hear the awesome acting of Meghan Caves.

I’m hoping to conduct another full run through of the adventure soon, which will likely take at least a month. So stay tuned for updates on Heart of Glass!
