Fear the Con 2024 Bound
Table Cat Games is heading to Fear the Con 2024 (6/20 - 6/22)! Fear the Con is a very small convention in St. Louis consisting mostly of people playing games and a small vendor room.
If you live in the St. Louis area and want to stop by, the con is free to attend. They fund it through a Kickstarter, so no need to pay for any kind of ticket.
Normally I wouldn’t travel all the way from Milwaukee to such a small con BUT I had a lot of fun when I went last year. I got to play a few games and meet cool people like Cassi Mothwin and her partner Chase the Ghost. While she may be my nemesis, it’s good to be able to meet your foe in person. She had a booth there last year and this year I actually have physical products to sell, so now we’ll be nemesis vendors. (If you have no idea who Cassi Mothwin is, please visit her website).
What I’m selling I’ll be bringing copies of the Street Wolves Jumpstart and The Wicked Forever King Hungers. Plus some dice bags themed towards those games.
I’ll also have a limited amount of the Street Wolves usb tape (with the old version of Street Wolves loaded on it). It’s important for me to have a few of them on hand to gauge reaction to them. I need to order the components to make more of them and I would really like to get an idea of how much people like them so I can get a better estimate on how many I should order/make.
I’ll also be carrying some neat stuff that I’ve sourced. While I’d love to only sell stuff I make, right now the selection is rather limited. Plus it’s always nice to try to make a little money if people don’t like my games. We’ll have really cool looking dice and retro themed magnets and pins. It’s also kind of fun to “collect” these items in order to sell them. I can’t lie, I keep some for myself.
Something else I’m actually really excited to bring is a bunch of rpgs and board games that I’ve either played and don’t plan on playing any more or have finally come to the realization that I’m never going to play them and should free up room in my house. There’s some great stuff in the boxes to go and people are going to be doing me a HUGE favor if they buy any of it.
This is the second convention I’ll be vending at. The first one I broke even, so the results were a little mixed. I think I underestimated how few ttrpg fans went to that convention and the fact that many of the attendees were broke college kids. My hopes are higher for Fear the Con, since I know more Savage Worlds fans go to it. And since I’m bringing a lot of old board games at least I’ll have something for those who don’t care about my games or retro pins or dice.
