Street Wolves On Kickstarter?!
Yes, that’s right! Street Wolves is coming to Kickstarter. The pre-launch page is up right now and you can sign up to be notified when the campaign starts.
But Street Wolves is already out, why take it to Kickstarter? Great question. The next phase of Street Wolves is a turbo boost for the game. I want to take something that’s great and make it better.
When I first wrote Street Wolves, I needed to get it out there to the world. I wanted to prove that I could make a game and not just go to Kickstarter and hope that people could trust that I could do it. I’ve shown that I have the skill and the willpower to deliver a cool product. Plus now that I’ve run a Kickstarter for Forever King, I have a bit of experience under my belt. Instead of a first timer never having finished a game and no Kickstarter experience, I’m ready for it.
Plus, with it being out for about a year now, I’ve been able to catch typos, mistakes, and some oddball mechanics. This is a huge bonus for going to print, since all that stuff isn’t going to be in the final book.
The initial goal of the Kickstarter is to fund:
Physical Print
When I started working on Street Wolves the ultimate end goal was a a high quality physical print. So not a print on demand version, we’re talking a professionally printed book.
Layout Refresh
While I was satisfied with how Street Wolves came out, I’ve learned a lot in the last year. I would like to give it a light refresh to make it easier to read and a bit cleaner.
I’ve done a test on a few pages and it’s turned out great so far. There are elements that I’d like to continue to tweak, but overall it’s been a breeze (and fun) to revisit the layout and clean it up a bit.
Stretch Goals
And if I get the first two goals met, I’ll be happy. But the real magic will happen if we get to the stretch goals.
More Rad Art
While the art in Street Wolves is rad, it could be kicked up a notch. I’d love to be able to replace a bunch of the stock art/phots with custom art. I’d really like Street Wolves to match what’s closer in my head than having to use stock art that’s sort of close.
Plus there are things that are missing. I couldn’t afford to capture all the gear that I wanted to get. And the enemies section needs more images of what they all look like.
A Plot Point Campaign
This Kickstarter will be a great opportunity to try to get a plot point campaign funded. I have an extremely talented writer on board. The stretch goal would fund paying for the writing, art, and my time on layout.
A plot point campaign is a type of campaign in Savage Worlds that is an outline for an epic adventure, which leaves room for adventures to happen in between the plot points. For this one, the guest writer has a vision of a globe spanning adventure where the fate of the world hangs in the balance!
New Adventures
We’ve got a couple of potential new adventures from guest writers on tap. I’ll be able to announce who they are shortly, so stay tuned!
I’m also planning on releasing an adventure that I wrote as part of this whole campaign.
Other Cool Stuff
Incentives for Early Adopters
I’m extremely grateful for all the people who have purchased Street Wolves already. In order to thank them and to lesson the impact of “double dipping” I have some plans together to reward the early adopters.
I am still working on the details, but early adopters are likely to get a free, brand new adventure and a really cool free item if they provide proof they purchased Street Wolves.
Merch
Who doesn’t love merch? Some planned items to come out of this campaign would be button pins and stickers. I’m also looking at a usb that comes pre loaded with Street Wolves stuff as the perfect for the on-the-go Street Wolves player.
Wolfpack Supply Drop
One of the premium tiers we’d like to do is to have a box full of great stuff. The above image shows one of the boxes I sent out to promote the launch of Street Wolves. It was so fun, I’d love to do it again.
Don’t Miss It
If this sounds rad to you, please sign up to be notified on the Kickstarter pre-launch page. The rule of thumb is you need a lot of people signed up before you can launch, otherwise it won’t get funded!
